Can you believe it's July already? This year has flown by, it feels like such a short time since we were shoveling snow. And my first month working from home was no except, I swear I just started last week!
But since we've reached that milestone, I thought it would be beneficial to do a quick overview of how I did. Overall it wasn't a lot of money, but I'm definitely optimistic with how well it went, especially given that I pretty much just dove in without doing much learning first.
I did encounter a couple of issues, which has likely slowed my income potential a little bit (and that I hope to remedy soon): Several sites I completed pre-approval testing but have not received an invitation to begin work, and a lack of test files to complete testing on some sites. I'm hoping to complete testing for other transcription sites soon so that I can test them. As well, several sites listed I am active on, I just haven't yet hit the payout threshold - with any luck I'll hit that point soon so I can properly review them for you.
How Did I Do?
As you can see, Rev has so far been head and shoulders above the other transcription sites I've tried, and as of right now is my first choice for transcription jobs. And for surveys, SurveyJunkie is my choice. The payout threshold is reasonable, there are a good number of surveys available, and it pays directly to Paypal within minutes. I did run into an issue paying out last week, but customer service corrected the issue and I have since received payment, though I had hoped to have it completed before the end of the month.
Overall in June, I made $95.33. It isn't a lot, but it's enough that I can see the potential with what I've been doing. If I can continue to improve my skills and find lucrative work from home sites, I feel that I'll be capable of bringing my earnings to about $100 per week, which is a reasonable goal and would go a long way to helping us sort out any budget shortfalls. And looking ahead for long term potential, there is the possibility of increasing earnings much more if I pursue freelance clerical work outside of these sites, which I do hope to do as my transcription and typing skills improve.
One other minor note: some companies payout in USD and some in CAD - I've decided not to convert them, so the amount in my spreadsheet may not be exact. Because conversion rates change frequently, and I don't need things to be accurate to the cent, it's simpler for me to just do it this way. If you'd like to know which companies pay in either currency, feel free to contact me!
I'll continue to do monthly check-ins so that you guys can see how the various work from home opportunities are going for me, and whether they're worth your time. If you have a favorite work from home site (or ones to avoid!) make sure you comment below!
